Songwriting duo Chris Emmert and Austin Stambaugh both hail from Ohio. Emmert southeast to Zanesville, and Stambaugh northeast to LaGrange. The two met in the spring of 2019 when they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, on the same day of the same month not already knowing each other. The pair were fast friends and would frequent local bars, occasionally embellishing the coincidence of their arrival. The two had an ongoing joke about how they were born on the same day, in the same hospital, and as a matter of fact delivered by the same nurse. Due to their sharp eyes and keen smiles, many people believed the story until it was eventually forgotten as classified truth. Although they first met at local haunt Dee's Country Cocktail Lounge, the two rekindled their friendship alongside songwriting mentor and Texas legend Noel McKay, where they both helped to spearhead the legendary Songwriter Thursdays at East Nashville's American Legion Post 82. Each week challenging themselves and each other to bring a new song to the circle. It was their passion for songwriting that brought them to try co-writing together, once a week symbolically on Thursdays after the event faded out.
